City uproots couple’s 17-year-old front yard garden

front&yard&veggie&gardenFew things in life are as benign as a home vegetable garden. But for the residents of Miami Shores, Fla., growing veggies can land you a fine — the type you eventually can’t afford.
That’s what happened to Hermine Ricketts and her husband, Tom Carroll. For the past 17 years they’ve grown a garden in the front yard of their modest South Florida home. The backyard, they say, doesn’t get enough sunlight.

But in May, the city put the couple’s garden, and any others like it, in their legal crosshairs.

A new zoning ordinance designed to “protect the distinctive character of the Miami Shores Village,” was enacted and specifically prohibited vegetables – not fruit, trees or even plastic flamingos – from appearing in front yards.

Shortly after, the couple received a visit from their local code enforcement officer. They were given two choices: Uproot the garden or pay a $50 per day fine to keep it.

After twice appearing before the Miami Shores Code Enforcement Board and being denied an exemption, the couple decided to dig up the garden rather than fork over $1,500 a month to the city.

School Refuses to Give Child to Father, then Arrests Him

Your children are not your own. They belong to the State. That is the message the government is sending parents across the U.S.
This week, Jim Howe, a father in T.N. was arrested for merely trying to pick up his child after school hours.



A few weeks ago, a father was arrested at the request of the school board for merely questioning the low standards of the controversial Common Core curriculum and exercising his 1st Amendment rights.
The media has been promoting the idea for a while now that children don’t belong to their parents. MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry said on her show, “we have to break through our private idea that kids belong to their parents or kids belong to their families.”



This totalitarian idea that children do not belong to their parents is not new. Karl Popper in his book, The Open Society and it’s Enemies, warned us that this kind of totalitarian thinking stems from Plato’s Republic. In Plato’s Republic, the State takes children away from their parents and raised in state-run foster homes supervised by the “elite Philosopher” class.
Parents are fighting back though.
Parents are fed up with all the controversies surrounding the public school system and are choosing to home school their children.
Dr. Susan Berry via Brietbart.com, explains the exodus from public schools to home education. “As dissatisfaction with the U.S. public school system grows, apparently so has the appeal of homeschooling. Educational researchers, in fact, are expecting a surge in the number of students educated at home by their parents over the next ten years, as more parents reject public schools” said Berry.
According to Education News, since 1999, the number of children who are home schooled has increased by 75%.
With Common Core curriculum which teaches young children to use emotionally charged language to manipulate others, massive data collection including medical records that are now being breached by hackers, violence in schools, school officials preventing parents access to their own children, it is no wonder why parents in the U.S. have had enough of public education.

Conscious Communication With Your Body

When you think about your body what comes to mind? For most people it’s the outer form of their body, and more noticeably their perceived faults of it. Common thoughts that come to mind are usually along the lines of “I’m too fat,” “my nose is too big” or “my skin is so spotty” and these thoughts are for the most part accompanied by feelings of dissatisfaction, guilt, inadequacy and sadness. What most people don’t realise is that each of these thoughts and feelings sends a message to the cells in their body, ultimately affecting the whole immune system. If only we realised our own power! 

Our body is so much more than the outer form we are so used to seeing in the mirror each day. It is a miracle of nature, and our DNA and cells are much more intelligent and responsive to thoughts and emotions than was once thought. Let’s just think for a moment about what we are carrying around inside of ourselves. Inside our head lives a brain containing 100 billion neurons, allowing us to experience approximately 70,000 thoughts per day. Ironically these thoughts don’t usually include the magnificence of the brain itself. Everywhere we go, we carry our heart, just the size of a fist, but which in under a minute pumps blood to every cell in the body. It beats about 100,000 times a day, shuttling 2,000 gallons of oxygen-rich blood many times through about 60,000 miles of branching blood vessels that link together the cells of our organs and body parts as we go about our everyday lives, obliviously unaware of the amount of work happening inside of us every nanosecond. Then there are our lungs, inhaling over two million litres of air every day, transporting oxygen to our bloodstream and removing carbon dioxide. Every single cell and organ in our body is part of a perfectly functioning machine. We may take holidays and rest but our organs never do. They are continuously working from the moment we are born to the moment we die. Sadly, the majority of us remain focused on the outer form we see, giving all our attention to aspects that displease us, without even a word of thanks or appreciation for the hardworking inner systems that keep us alive. It’s time to change. It’s time to become conscious of our thoughts and feelings and once again make contact with our beautiful insides. 

Communicating with our organs and inner body may sound strange at first, but scientists have discovered that our immune system is literally able to think and responds to our thoughts, feelings, emotions and wishes. Dr Candice Pert, the internationally known neuroscientist who discovered endorphins and neuropeptides, discovered that just as there are receptors in our brain cells, so too do they exist in every cell in our body. We can use this knowledge to increase our vitality, improve our health and even heal sickness. Have you ever noticed that the people who constantly talk about their health problems are always sick? Or that positive, happy people rarely get ill? That isn’t just by chance. The cells in the body translate thoughts and feelings into biological processes. Bluntly put, if you tell your body that it is sick, it will get sick. 

So what is the best way to communicate effectively with your body? It may help to think of your organs as little children inside of you. Just as little children need love and attention, so do our organs. If they don’t get the love and attention they need, they start to play up, which translates to us as pain and discomfort. There a few simple exercises that you can do every day or whenever you have a few spare minutes, even if you are just sitting on the bus. 

EXERCISE 1: 

Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. Relax your body and focus inwards. Feel in your body where there is tension. Let’s say for example that you have a tense neck. Your neck is asking for some attention and appreciation. The habitual reaction to a tense neck would probably be to complain and think ‘how annoying, stupid neck,’ or something along those lines. However, this technique requires the reverse. Focus on the area of discomfort and say in your mind (or out loud) I love you. Then tell your neck what you appreciate about it, for example ‘thank you for holding up my head every day.’ Just as children respond well to encouragement and praise, so too do your cells and organs. Tell your neck that it’s doing a great job. Repeat over and over ‘I love you,’ speaking slowly and deliberately, and as the area receives the love and attention it craves you will notice the pain and tension lessening. 

EXERCISE 2: 

Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. Smile. Think of something that makes you feel happy. Then move through the body, focusing on each organ and transmitting this feeling of happiness while thanking the organ. Smile (yes really smile, not just in your head!) at your heart. Put your hand over it. Thank it for carrying blood around your body. Smile at your lungs. Put your hands on them. Thank them for carrying oxygen around your body. Smile at your liver. Put your hand over it. Thank it for processing digested food. Smile at your kidneys, put your hands over them, and thank them for processing waste. Smile at your bladder. Put your hand over it. Thank it for storing your urine. Continue in this way until you have thanked all your organs. Note: it may help to have a diagram of the body close by, with the labelled organ positions and their functions. This exercise can last as long or as short as you wish, depending on the time you have available. To shorten the exercise, work on less of your organs. You may thank 5 organs one day and a different 5 the next day and continue to work through the body like that, or may wish to thank every organ in 1 session. 

REMEMBER: Next time you catch yourself criticizing your body, replace the negative thought with a positive affirmation or feeling of gratitude. It may be as simple as looking in the mirror and saying ‘I love you.’

Dairy industry pushing to hide aspartame in new definition of 'milk'

In an effort to get more children to drink processed milk, the conventional dairy industry is pushing the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to change the very definition of milk to allow for the discreet addition of toxic artificial sweeteners like aspartame. According to a petition filed in the Federal Register earlier this year, the dairy industry's goal is to change the "standard of identity" for milk so that it can be further modified and sweetened to attract more young consumers. 

Whether it is due to increasing allergies or a simple distaste for its processed flavor, conventional milk sales have dropped some 25 percent in the U.S. since 1975, and consumption patterns are continuing to dwindle all across the country. So the National Milk Producers Federation and the International Dairy Foods Association are petitioning to simply redefine the word "milk" to include other things like artificially flavored and sweetened chocolate and strawberry milk beverages. 

If the industry gets its way, then not only would these and other processed foods suddenly be lumped into the "milk" category, but the chemical ingredients contained in these products would not have to be clearly delineated on the front of the packages. Gone are the days, in other words, of "low-calorie" drinks being clearly labeled -- "milk" products sold to children would be permitted to contain all sorts of hidden ingredients that could cause them harm. 

"The front of the label is really what helps consumers make decisions quickly," says Sonya Angelone, a registered dietitian who spoke on behalf of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, as quoted by CBS San Francisco. "People don't want to go to the grocery store and spend a lot of time trying to decipher the labels and figure out what's in there or what might not be in there." 

Artificial sweeteners like aspartame are not safe and have no place in children's 'milk' 

Besides the fact that the proposal is unbelievably deceptive at its core, there is still a lack of substantial evidence to prove that the chemical additives the industry is hoping to hide in milk are even safe in the first place. Aspartame, which is perhaps the most well-known artificial sweetener in the world, has been repeatedly shown to cause chronic headaches, neurological damage, cancer and, yes, even weight gain and obesity, the very things it is marketed as supposedly combating. 

"Aspartame is a dangerous chemical food additive, and its use during pregnancy and by children is one of the greatest modern tragedies of all," says Dr. Janet Starr Hull, author of the book Sweet Poison: How the World's Most Popular Artificial Sweetener is Killing Us. "The research and history of aspartame is conclusive as a cause of illness and toxic reactions in the human body." 

Even the Academy seems to agree, having acknowledged in a letter to the FDA that the long-term safety of many non-nutritive sweeteners like aspartame, even when consumed at very low levels, has never been scientifically confirmed in young, developing children. Like many others, the Academy opposes the dairy industry's proposal to redefine milk, and the group is urging the FDA to act in the public interest by rejecting it. 

"Milk's singular nature and its essential characteristics of purity and wholesomeness necessitate that consumers are readily made aware of any changes to its identity on the front of the package (such as current labeling of fat adulterations), including whether it is flavored or sweetened with non-nutritive sweeteners," writes the Academy in its letter to the FDA, which you can read in full here:

The Government Is Preparing For A Major Natural Disaster: Why Are They Keeping It From Us?

In a remarkably ominous farewell speech made by Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano in August of this year, the public was let in on an expected upcoming global catastrophe that everyone should be prepared for. Napolitano described that a massive and “serious” cyber-attack on U.S. homeland is coming, and that a natural disaster —the likes of which the nation has never seen before —is also believed to be on its way. The resignation marked the end of her four year term as DHS under President Obama, raising questions amongst the public about the real intent of Napolitano’s decision. As part of her farewell speech she joked for her replacement to “grab a bottle of Advil.” 

Was Napolitano’s resignation and public statement a literal warning of knowledge our government is aware of and is keeping from the people? A few months prior to Janet’s farewell speech an unsettling report prepared by EMERCOM revealed that the Obama Regime requested the use of at least 15,000 Russian troops trained in disaster relief and riot control to be utilized in FEMA Region III (District of Columbia, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia) in October. Former South Dakota Senator Sheldon R. Songstad, along with conspiracy website moderator David Ells put together a list of strange clues that point towards government preparation for an upcoming disaster crisis:
  • 15,000 Russians in Baltimore by October
  • 1st 82% of our combat forces and their supply elements out of CONUS by October 1st
  • FEMA purchase orders for over $14.2 million for MREs and heater meals to be delivered to Region III by October 1st
  • FEMA purchase orders for 22 million pouches of emergency water to be delivered to region III by October 1st
  • FEMA purchase orders for $13.6 million for MREs and heater meals to be delivered to Austin by October 1st
  • Nine-week training course for UN Peacekeepers in CONUS to learn Urban Warfare, English and US weapons systems beginning 4th week of July for 386,000 troops to be completed by October 1st.
  • $11 million in antibiotics to be delivered to FEMA region III by October 1st ordered by CDC
  • World Health Organization held second emergency meeting in its history to discuss MERs coronavirus. Determined a vaccine MUST be in place by October 1st
  • 2800 MRAPs must be delivered to DHS by October 1st
  • No leave will be allowed for US military from September 28th thru November 5th
  • NORCOMM yearly training for civil unrest suspended until September 27th – to be performed in northeast coastal areas
  • Date for release of QE3 report moved to October 16th
  • All DHS agents MUST qualify with sidearm, shotgun & AR 15 by September 28th -no mention of yearly less lethal qualification
  • Sporadic testing of GPS & Communications satellites is coordinated for the first time with a testing date of September 29th
  • POTUS mandates to FEMA and DHS concerning support for metropolitan communities dealing with the extreme climate change MUST be complete by October 1st. These mandates were issued during the last three weeks.
  • Over 300 school systems in the US have determined they need three-day kits for each school AND three-day kits for each student to take with them. All deliveries are scheduled for the month of September.
  • All National Guard units will complete riot control and disaster assistance training during this year’s annual two week training. All units MUST have their training complete by September 30th
  • Daily testing of the Emergency Broadcast System to begin on September 25th and run thru October 2nd
  • Eastern-based Coast Guard units to perform massive group training usually performed in the Gulf, in the Virginia and Delaware areas. This is a 10-day training mission to begin September 26th.
  • A side-note to ponder: For the first time in the history of the United Nations, the Secretary General addresses the Assembly, a speech that was broadcast live to over 60 nations, to inform the assembly that while we are dealing with what appears to be two global crises — extreme climate change and financial downturns — the governments of the world are working together to resolve the issues before they reach catastrophic proportions. In other words, he addresses the Assembly and the world just to say everything is going to be okay.
It’s clear to see that the government is keeping something from the public. Some may argue that they are just taking necessary precautions in case of a disaster, but it appears to be something more than just ‘being prepared in the event of…’ Russian Minister Puchkov recently stated: 
“We have decided that [FEMA] and Russia’s Emergencies Ministry will work together to develop systems to protect people and territory from cosmic impacts…”
He also further noted that his meeting with DHS Director Napolitano also covered other kinds of natural emergencies, such as the extreme weather of recent years in both Russia and the United States. It is peculiar that such meetings and preparations have taken place around the much talked about passing of comet ISON. Could the government be aware of impending devastation coming from the debris trail of comet ISON? 

Another strange incident that occurred on the coast of California this month may also point to a coming natural disaster. Two oarfish measured 16-18 feet long washed up on the shores of southern California, a rare occurrence since oarfish are bottom feeders that usually stay thousands of feet beneath the ocean surface. Japanese folklore suggests that oarfish rise to the ocean’s surface before large earthquakes strike, which is what happened back in 2011 before the 8.8 magnitude Japan earthquake hit (the same is said to have happened before the 2010 earthquake in Chile). Fishermen at the time reported seeing and catching an abundance of oarfish around the epicentre of the mega-quake. Scientists suggest that sea serpents are more perceptive to seismic shifts and changes in gas pressures. 

The idea that animals can sense when a natural disaster is about to occur is something that dates back thousands of years. Historians recorded that before the major earthquake of 373 B.C. in Helice, Greece, animals such as rats, weasels and snakes all deserted the city in a panic. Bees have also been known to leave their hives and disappear before natural disasters. Many pet owners have reported their cats and dogs acting up before earthquakes strike as well. It is thought that animals have a higher sensitivity to electrical changes in the air or gas released from the Earth. This may explain the strange appearance of the oarfish. Earlier this year, a record number of sea lion sightings were also reported along Southland beaches, including one declared ‘unusual mortality event’ in April that saw hundreds of ailing sea lion pups washed ashore. Perhaps these events are precursors for the “big one” that is said to be overdue by now, the Cascadia subduction zone earthquake along the western North American coastline. Only time will tell what these signs all really mean. 

The reduction of the population from natural disasters is something that has been discussed for many years now. Is there a way that a mega-scale disaster could possibly serve humanity’s evolution? Some argue that the “cleansing” of the planet by natural forces is a necessary part of the shift in consciousness, and that by going through what our ego considers mass tragedy, we are being forced to look at the way we are living our lives in an intense but humbling light. People come together in times of tragedy, and the things we once thought were important such as material items and finances begin to lose their value as the truly valuable things such as family and friends become the forerunner in our lives. History writes about a time when ancient civilizations such as the inhabitants of Atlantis and Lemuria were at a similar pivotal evolutionary point, but were not ready to make the shift and were swept away by the Earth’s oceans. Are we possibly about to see a similar story unfold? Is this all a part of our evolution, cleansing out the systems and souls that are not ready to make the leap to the new Earth? 

At the physical level, death and destruction are among the most common of fears expressed by the ego; it is therefore easy to get caught up in the three dimensional view of life. However I believe that if we begin to accept the idea that we are more than just our bodies, and that the concept of death is merely an illusion, then we can begin letting go of the fear associated with natural disasters and looking at how these inevitable events can serve humanity’s progression. At the soul level there is no judgment towards how and when someone will pass on. After all, we are eternal beings having a human experience and any challenge we go through is ultimately created for us to learn from and to expand our consciousness. This includes earthquakes, asteroids and any other natural disaster. 

The next few years will more than likely prove to be eventful to say the least. Whether the government is retaining information from the public or not, we cannot refute that the natural cycles of our planet will continue on with full force during the next stages of our evolution, and humanity will inevitably progress forward along with these cycles. There is really no other choice but to trust that the divine universe has a plan for us all; doing this will allow us to move forward with hope for what the new Earth will present.

It’s Back! The McRib and Other Processed “Delights”

It is astounding that people actually get excited when they hear that McDonald’s restaurants are going to be featuring the infamous McRib Sandwich for a “limited time only,” once again. Introduced in 1981, just before the chicken McNugget, this so-called “boneless pork” product is more like a marriage of pig parts, including tripe, stomach and heart. 

When a Reddit user circulated a photo of a McDonald’s frozen McRib, seen below, it went viral. The frozen patty certainly resembles styrofoam more than anything else, however, McDonals had this to say in defense: 

“Just like a burger patty is formed to be round and flat, we form the iconic McRib in the shape of traditional ribs.We then flash freeze the patty to seal in flavor and freshness, just like you freeze meat in your own freezer, before going to our restaurants. The McRib is also known for its iconic taste, which is why we use a quality cut of pork -– pork shoulder -– to give our McRib lovers a thicker, meatier McRib experience.” 

Fashioned in the same manner as the McNugget, by grinding a mish mash of ingredients together, the McRib parts are also bound together by a petrochemical preservative (Tertiary butylhydroquinone). The Consumer’s Dictionary of Food Additives states that as little as one gram of this dangerous chemical may cause an adverse reaction including “nausea, vomiting, ringing in the ears and sense of suffocation.”

Sweet referred to the Chicken McNugget as a “McFrankenstein creation.” However, children and adults all over America continue to be served the same McNugget that escapes justice, mostly due to the fact that it is served in a somewhat natural configuration – i.e. poultry can be cut into chunks, battered and fried, however, ribs, no matter how you prepare or cook them, cannot be eaten without the bones in them. 

What is Really in The McRib? 

The McRib is advertised to contain a pork patty, bun, barbecue sauce, pickle and onions. However it actually consists of 70 ingredients. The bun houses 34 of these ingredients along with additives such as ammonium sulfate (found in soil fertilizers), azodicarbonamide (a bleaching agent used to make gym mats and the soles of shoes), and partially hydrogenated soybean and cottonseed oils (most likely genetically modified). 

The patty meat contains three preservatives including, propyl gallate (which has carcinogenic properties and can impact the stomach, skin, kidneys, respiratory system and liver – also banned in other countries), citric acid and butylated hydroxyanisole (may contribute to cancer and can lead to behavioral changes). 

Although representatives from McDonald’s will tell us that the McRib is made mostly of shoulder meat, this is misleading. Tracing back to the birth of the sandwich gives us a whole different story. 

The McRib was the creation of a meat scientist from Nebraska and a French trained chef. Roger Mandigo, a longtime professor at UNL, and an inductee into the Meat Industry Hall of Fame, is a well known innovator in restructured meat products. In a 1995 article Mandigo helped to describe the process that went into making the sandwich that is so loved today. 

“Restructured meat products are commonly manufactured by using lower-valued meat trimmings reduced in size by comminution (flaking, chunking, grinding, chopping or slicing). The comminuted meat mixture is mixed with salt and water to extract salt-soluble proteins. These extracted proteins are critical to produce a “glue” which binds muscle pieces together. These muscle pieces may then be reformed to produce a “meat log” of specific form or shape. The log is then cut into steaks or chops which, when cooked, are similar in appearance and texture to their intact muscle counterparts.” 

According to Mandigo, “Most people would be extremely unhappy if they were served heart or tongue on a plate,” he observed. “But flaked into a restructured product it loses its identity. Such products as tripe, heart, and scalded stomachs are high in protein, completely edible, wholesome, and nutritious, and most are already used in sausage without objection. Pork patties could be shaped into any form and marketed in restaurants or for airlines, solving a secondary problem of irregular portion size of cuts such as pork chops. In 1981, McDonald’s introduced a boneless pork sandwich of chunked and formed meat called the McRib, developed in part through check-off funds [micro-donations from pork producers] from the NPPC [National Pork Producers Council]. It was not as popular as the McNugget, introduced in 1983, would become, even though both products were composed of unmarketable parts of the animal (skin and dark meat in the McNugget). The McNugget, however, benefited from positive consumer associations with chicken, even though it had none of the “healthy” attributes people associated with poultry.” 

The Hook-Line and Sinker of the Processed Food Industry 

The secret society of food processors (not a real thing), speaks in code. Words that don’t make sense, ingredients that no one understands, special trade secrets and food that pulls Americans in – hook, line and sinker. What is it about processed food that makes people want more? 

The Hook: For starters, processed foods contain none of the healthy nutrients found in real food but rather ingredients that rev up feel-good neurotransmitters that make us happy. Who doesn’t like to be happy? The problem is that this happiness comes at the cost of nutrition and our health. 

The Line: Processed foods create crazy food cravings that play havoc with our nutritional sense. 

The Sinker: Repeated consumption of processed foods leads to food addiction and a much greater susceptibility to sexy and alluring advertising campaigns. 

Processed Foods are Loaded with Additives 

Additives linked to obesity including MSG, high-fructose corn syrup, wheat and artificial sweeteners are found in abundance in processed/fast foods. These additives contribute to the dangerous condition known as insulin resistance, which is the driving force behind most diseases today. 

Processed Foods Destroy Your Digestive Health 

While you are munching away on your McRib sandwich or slurping your Diet Coke, it is unlikely that you are thinking about the impact that these foods have on your digestive ecosystem. Out of sight, out of mind, right? Sadly, the damage that highly refined foods do to our digestive tract is immeasurable. 

While the highly refined carbs in processed foods feed destructive bacteria, your healthy bacteria numbers diminish and the bad guys move in destroying the lining of your gut, promoting inflammation and turning your internal balance upside down. While signs of this battle may not be evident immediately, the damage is cumulative, sometimes showing up ten or more years down the road. 

Memory problems, mood swings and even depression can be linked to processed and fast foods. The greatest amount of serotonin (which is responsible for mood control), is found in your intestines, not your brain. The gut/brain connection is very strong and what we eat influences the nature of this relationship. Food is the driving force and when our intestines are off kilter, our mood, behavior and overall psychological health suffer. 

Processed foods are easy, convenient and make a few people in our country a ton of money. However, they offer nothing for your health or the health of your family. Not only should you walk away from processed foods such as those served at McDonald’s, you should run. This includes the 90% of processed foods that line your grocer’s shelves. Stick to real, wholesome food, of which there is plenty to choose from.
